I throw those music files on my PSP and use some old cheap wired headphones on the go. I really need to replace those things actually.

would you mind taking a picture of that PSP?
i used to have a Nintendo 2ds that i would use to listen to music on the go, until i got an Ipod, which i loaded with around 50 songs; all of dem being youtube rips…
Good, buy very clunky days

for a long time I used media monkey and I had it all set up exactly how i liked it and i liked all the shortcuts and stuff.
now i use musicbee and i like it and it does most of the same things and it has a cute bee and stuff. there's a couple shortcuts that i miss and a feature or two that's missing that helped me keep things organized and all that, but it's not a big deal i guess.
and then it all goes through an old first gen focusrite scarlett and to my sony headphones or yamaha monitors.
i hope no one thinks i'm weird for that, i mean i still like to listen to my music on my phone with my earbud skullcandies too….

i got to uni, so having a portable device where i can listen to music ends up being a must, but most of the time, i like to do so on my desktopo

I just play everything with mplayer in the shell. It gets the job done. Sophisticated media libraries like clementine always overwhelmed me.

Where do you get all your music from?
No.2141
>>2140>Where do you get all your music from?My hard drive. When I buy music, it's either on CD and then ripped or from bandcamp via download. Other music I get from youtube with yt-dlp -x.

I either stream my music to my phone via Plexamp, or I listen to it on the computer via Winamp

>>2143there's plenty of music that was only published to cd and never made it to digital distribution or into shared spaces. like i was uploading stuff that was never seen before on what.cd and waffles back in the day. someone still has to get hold of it first before it can be shared.

not quite the same thing but I enjoy collecting vinyl and sometimes I'll buy something just because I like the name of the band or the cover art. It's a fun way to find new music but obviously ymmv.

I also collect vinyls, although my collection is quite small as of now
They are really expensive, and my record player is quite old, (and a new stylus costs around 50 bucks, which is a lot for me) So, I try not to play them much because i'm afraid ill damage them

i grab lossless files from soulseek or elsewhere, convert them to 192kbps opus and listen in foobar2000 with a pair of hd6xx headphones plugged into a magni 2 amp with an audio interface as the dac. eq'd close to harman curve but with a bit more treble to my taste.

Why do you convert everything to opus?
Sometimes, I dont really notice a difference between lossy files and ones that are uncompressed, but just seeing the .flac extension on my files, and a 22khz cutoff makes me real happy

I only use Spotify and Youtube to listen to music really. I just don't listen to music enough to go through the trouble of downloading a bunch of stuff and setting up a media player app. I do download some music but it's mostly for preservation of unpopular things/things that have a high likelihood of being deleted. Currently listening to old life new life by Limited Express (has Gone?) as I post this.
